We recognised the need for a Youth Into Industry programme like this in Whangarei allowing youth to gain industry experience which was also aligned to NCEA Unit standards.
The program invites students to come into the Hirepool Business on a regular basis and learn Heath and Safety policies aligned with the Hire Industry.
The maintenance of Plant and Equipment used in civil construction, also the safe workplace practices of this plant in civil construction which is most important as this is where most injuries happen.
Hire pool also support Youth into Industry Community Projects, Plant such as Excavator, Roller, Loader etc are made available to students so they can gain hands on operate training and experience. Recent projects that have been carried out by students at the Whangarei Quarry Gardens are Stage 1 and 2 of The Rivulet, Russell Road Car park and Road and Car park maintenance within the gardens.
The success of this program is seeing students being offered permanent employment and gaining further Industry knowledge, for Hirepool that's what it's all about.
